I seriously hope I’m not the only one from my generation that’s concerned about this article. I mean, I don’t mean to be one of those moral saints around here but I think this is just plain disgusting.
I was reading up on all the increasing cost to help my father write a PR release, stating the reasons for the risings cost of food before I chanced on this. Singaporeans stealing from the Indonesians. And there we were wondering why the hell were the Indonesians so ungrateful when we provided them aid when they’re in crisis.
I didn’t know what an extradition treaty was until the Mas Selamat Saga happened. And when this bugger was arrested by the Indonesians, they released him to the Singaporeans authorities.
What affected me the most is that our banking industry is so unscrupulous, that they keep these criminals here just because they have money. I think this is equivalent to stealing from the Indonesians. And it’s like over a few hundred million.
Now I know why the surrounding SEA countries are so pissed with Singapore, we are so pragmatic and caught up with development, we neglect principles and our moral values.
I’m not saying the Indonesians are saints or that corruption doesn’t exist in their country but the bottomline is, the money isn’t ours and we have every right to arrest these criminals and send them back to indonesia. We can’t just allow this because they have millions and are investing in our industry.
We take it a few million dollars to build more ERP gantries to tax our people. To the rich, this is nothing, the tax is just a small part of their sum. But to the poor, every cent counts; the extra 50 cents taken away by the ERP gantry hurts the poor more than it hurts the rich.
While Singapore is a nice city with nice buildings, so-called the people here are of third world standard, money grubbing, always judging and stereotyping, seat snatching, materialistic snobs who always thinks we’re better than our neighbours.
We worship the caucasians and provide them with “better service” at the airports while we snub our locals and offer then half fucked services. I mean learn from the thais, foreigners are charged a higher rate while locals are given a lower price for some products.
But it’s my home. And I’m proud to say, I’m ashamed of us.
